Description
Union County is undertaking a comprehensive update of its Comprehensive Plan to guide future land use, economic development, housing, infrastructure, and community priorities. Robust, inclusive, and representative community engagement is essential to ensure the plan reflects the needs, values, and lived experiences of Union County residents, particularly those historically underrepresented in planning processes. The student intern in this position will support the design and implementation of outreach strategies that go beyond statutory public notice requirements to achieve meaningful community participation.Working closely with REV staff, the Union County Planning Director, and consulting partners, the intern will support the development and execution of a community engagement and communications strategy, assist with public meeting facilitation, and help ensure community voices are documented and reflected in the planning process.This position offers hands-on experience in public service, community outreach, and land use planning with long-term, real-world impacts.Access to a computer with internet and ability to attend meetings remotely will be necessary. We strongly prefer to hire a currently enrolled EOU student (graduate or undergraduate).

Timeline
Hiring and onboarding expected in May 2026 and work commencing in full in June 2026. According to the Gantt Chart in the grant awarded to Union County, Community Engagement will be ongoing throughout the grant period. The internship is expected to extend through April 2027 and potentially beyond as funds and meaningful work for the student lasts.
The Eastern Oregon Workforce Board (EOWB) is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated intern to support our Employer Engagement team. This role is designed for an individual interested in economic development, public relations, or business administration. This intern will serve as a vital link between the EOWB and local employers, helping us better understand the needs of our regional economy.
The primary focus of this position is to expand our employer database, conduct outreach to local businesses, and facilitate business assessments that inform our future workforce strategies.
Core Responsibilities1. Market Research & Data ManagementIdentify & Profile: Research and identify key businesses within Eastern Oregon’s priority sectors (e.g., Agriculture, Healthcare, Manufacturing).
Data Enrichment: Update and maintain the employer database (CRM) with accurate contact information, NAICS codes, workforce size, and other key information.
2. Direct Outreach & AssessmentInitial Contact: Conduct professional outreach via phone, email, and (where appropriate) in-person visits to introduce EOWB services.
Business Assessments: Administer standardized business assessment surveys to identify hiring needs, skill gaps, and training requirements.
Scheduling: Coordinate meetings between business owners and EOWB leadership for deeper strategic discussions.
3. Reporting & AnalysisTrend Identification: Compile and analyze data from business assessments to identify regional workforce trends.
Reporting: Prepare brief monthly reports summarizing engagement metrics (e.g., number of new contacts, common pain points reported by businesses).

This internship will provide the chosen applicant an opportunity to participate in the functions of an Oregon Department of Forestry Unit office.
-Field incoming phone calls from the public.-Relay pertinent information to the public and co-workers.-Track fire finance expenditures.-Monitor radio communications and communicate intel on potential incidents.-Field general public forestry questions.-Refer the public to specialists within ODF and partner agencies.-Monitor weather trends and communicate fire season restrictions.

We would like to offer two internship positions in the area of choice for participant in our hospital.
Six-week duration at 20 hours per week.
Duties:In carrying out the duties of the position, Animal Care Assistants will adhere to all PHS/PAWS protocols, established processes, and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); and will maintain and honor the mission of the Pioneer Humane Society.You are responsible for the daily care for the animals at the shelter, including providing fresh bedding/toys, cleaning and filling the water bowls and food trays. Observe animals for any health and/or behavior concerns and note such on their record. Alert your supervisor of any health issues right away.Treat all animals humanely, both on and off the job. You are a representative of PHS/PAWS even when not at work.Responsible for maintaining the sanitation and helping to prevent the spread of disease at the shelter. This includes cleaning dog kennels, cat condos and outside kennels, as well as all interior spaces of the shelter. Clean all kennels and condos: sanitize, Laundry: cleaning, folding, and putting away according to protocols. Under direction of Shelter Manager/Supervisor give and record shots and medication.In absence of Vet Tech make decisions, in conjunction with Shelter Manager, regarding vet care for animals under PAWS care.Conduct intake of animals strictly according to SOP within 24 hours of their arrival. Record keeping is essential to the operation of the shelter. Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed accurately, completely and in a timely manner. Show animals to prospective families for adoption and provide guidance. Ensure visitors adhere to disease prevention protocols. Answer to Shelter Manager/Animal Care Supervisor for supervision.Help to resolve barriers to adoption at the direction of your supervisor, such as socialization, behavior, and health issues.Maintain professionalism at all times. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings.Provide excellent customer service to our customers.
Summer 2026
Key responsibilities include preparing equipment for therapy sessions, sanitizing surfaces, assisting patients with non-clinical needs, and providing general support to therapists and staff.

The intern would be working 15-30 hours per week mostly 7am-12pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Work includes planting, weeding, harvesting fruits and vegetables, washing and prepping for farm sales, processing food to freeze, jam and freeze dry. Other jobs could include helping sell in the farmstand and/or LaGrande Farmer's Market Tuesdays 3-6 and Saturdays 8-12.
Hours would depend on the person but could range from 15-30 hours a week. We work mostly mornings from 7am-noon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. This can be somewhat flexible. June-September if possible but not necessary.
