The new online CIS Jr will be released to all middle schools that license CIS in the fall. Piloted last year by over 35 schools around the state, CIS Jr helps students plan for high school, document Oregon’s personalized learning requirements, expand their awareness of future possibilities.

CIS Jr includes:

  • All content controlled for a 5th-grade reading level.
  • An interest inventory that uses middle-school relevant experiences.
  • Occupation information that includes context for how high school courses help prepare for an occupation, recommended high school activities, and types of postsecondary preparation.
  • A six-year course planner for forecasting high school courses.
  • A component to save activities and achievements (used for resume and scholarships).
  • Components to begin documenting the education plan and education profile requirements for the high school diploma.
  • School information with general admissions requirements to postsecondary training options.
  • Developmentally appropriate curriculum activities.
  • Personalized portfolios where students can house diploma requirement documentation, reflections, and saved information files. Portfolios can transfer to CIS high schools.
